Therapy for Vertigo, dizziness and equilibrium

I'm a trained specialist in balance disorders and dizziness and I'm listed on the german homepage www.ohne-schwindel.de

A thorough examination of symptoms like dizziness, lightheadedness, or nausea is important to identify the underlying cause(s). Depending on the situation, I recommend the appropriate repositioning maneuver, eye or vestibular exercises, or stabilizing therapy for the cervical spine.

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) often involves an intense spinning sensation, lasting from only a few seconds to 2 minutes, and can be effectively treated with the right repositioning maneuver.

Lightheadedness, dizziness, a "drunken" feeling, or unsteadiness while walking can be due to instability in the cervical spine, possibly following an illness, whiplash injury, or anxiety disorder. In these cases, education is key because these types of dizziness DO NOT improve by avoiding triggering situations, but respond well to balance and eye exercises.

Other types of dizziness, such as vestibular migraine, Ménière's disease, multifactorial or age-related dizziness, and central dizziness, are alleviated with individually tailored exercises (sensory, vestibular, eye, coordination).

Cervicogenic dizziness and vestibular migraine are treated both with manual therapy (including techniques like Dean Watson's) and individually adapted exercises for the cervical spine and thus the brainstem, with its vestibular nuclei.
